I’ve known Ed “Inch” Kohr for over eight years. We first met at Celebrate Recovery when he decided to check it out after leaving AA. Not long after, I became his sponsor—a decision we both regretted at the time. Since then, we’ve been through a lot together: a relapse, court cases, motorcycle accidents, me losing my dad, him losing his mom, his divorce, a new marriage, and everything in between. He even lived with me for a time. And, of course, there have been countless hours spent riding together.
In 2018, I realized that Inch needed to be involved in something (which, to be honest, meant I needed help), so I got him and later his wonderful wife, Megan, involved in Cover Six Canines. CSC is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit I co-founded with The Dog Father, Bob Fink, and Pastor Jim Quoss of Freedom Biker Church in York, PA. Our mission is to provide service dogs and training free of charge to veterans and first responders.
Even though neither Ed nor Megan are veterans or first responders, they jumped in wholeheartedly and never looked back. Inch eventually became the President of CSC and only recently stepped down, along with Megan, from her role as secretary, to allow others the opportunity to serve. (It was a necessary move, as every parent and leader knows: If no one else steps up, the leadership might not continue if something happens to those in charge.)
Inch also became one of the plank owners of the security team at Freedom Biker Church, a team I started years ago. Inch is my brother. We’ve laughed, cried, and gotten into heated arguments more times than I can count, but we always come back together to make amends, as we’re called to do by our Father. My “Little Buddy,” as I call him, has chosen to walk the walk and not just talk the talk. Both he and Megan are a true blessing to me.
The Lord brought two broken, lost souls together, turned them around, and helped us create something that glorifies Him. God is so good.
