Church Security Physical Template

If you’re starting a security team, considering forming one, or want to improve your existing team, this framework can help you get organized. Whether it’s a church, synagogue, or any place of worship, security operations will typically involve one or more buildings.

This diagram outlines a 6-person team assigned during a service, with each member’s responsibilities clearly defined.

  • If only one person is available, they should be stationed at Post #1 in the lobby.
  • With two members, Post #1 remains in the lobby, while Post #3—the team leader—is positioned at the front right-hand corner, responsible for the safety of the Pastor or Pulpit.

Positioning the team leader on the front right allows them to observe the back door, projector, and the congregation. Since most people naturally scan a room from left to right, this spot provides a strategic advantage, giving the leader a better chance to detect and respond to threats.

This plan can be adapted to fit the layout and security needs of any building or facility. I am always available for church security consulting.
